Laya Tray

With its beautifully textured weave, structured form and natural leather detailing, the Laya Tray is a versatile piece for the home. It’s ideal for carrying items from the kitchen to the table or keeping everyday essentials organised in one place.

The natural fibres and tightly woven structure give the Laya Tray a warm, tactile character. Place it on a coffee table, console or sideboard to hold a small collection of objects, use it in an entryway to corral everyday items as you come and go, or on a kitchen bench to hold condiments, fruit or vegetables. It also works as a decorative piece when leant against a wall on a shelf or bench, highlighting the texture of the weave.

Each tray is handmade from bundled kaisa grass, bound with palm leaf to create its structured form. Natural leather wrapped around the rim and handles adds comfort when carrying and a subtle decorative detail. Woven by Fair Trade artisans in rural Bangladesh, the Laya Tray supports traditional weaving skills and sustainable livelihoods for women and their families.

• Tray: 35cm / 13.5in diameter x 8cm / 3.1in high
• Hand harvested and bundled kaisa grass (inside the palm fibre)
  Hand stripped palm fibre is wrapped around the kaisa grass as they are coiled and woven into shape.
  Natural leather is bound around the rim and and handles. 
  
• - Our palm fibre trays may lighten slightly as the fibre ages.
  - To clean, we suggest you shake or vacuum them to dislodge dirt or dust.
  - They are robust and will withstand some condensation however for heavier water-based spills, blot with kitchen paper or an absorbent cloth as soon as possible and allow them to dry. Do not rub stains or spills from your tray as this may spread the stain and loosen the jute fibres. Please note that oil-based or brightly coloured spills may not be easily removed - we recommend trying the above methods with a gentle eco-friendly cleaner.
