• Designed for everyday plates, bowls and serving dishes. For very hot cookware or oven dishes placed directly from the oven, use a dedicated trivet or hot mat.
• Natural jute will gradually change colour over time and may yellow with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
• Shake or vacuum regularly to remove dust and debris.
• For food or drink spills, remove any solids carefully, then blot immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not rub, as this may spread the stain or work it further into the fibres.
• For liquid spills such as wine, juice, coffee or tea, salt can be used to help absorb remaining moisture before gently vacuuming away.
• Oil-based or strongly coloured foods and liquids, including sauces, berries and spices, may leave permanent stains. Treat spills as quickly as possible.
• If needed, use a gentle cleaner suitable for natural fibres.
• Avoid saturating the jute with water. If it becomes damp, allow it to dry completely before storing.

How many placemats are included in the set? Each set includes eight round jute placemats stored inside a matching hand-braided basket with lid.

Are they suitable for everyday use? Yes. Their sturdy braided and stitched construction makes them ideal for everyday meals as well as entertaining and special occasions.

Will they scratch my table? The braided jute creates a textured surface, but is suitable for use on most tables. For particularly delicate or highly polished surfaces, we recommend testing a placemat first.

Can I place hot dishes directly onto the placemats? These placemats are suitable for everyday plates, bowls and serving dishes. For very hot cookware or oven dishes directly from the oven, we recommend using a dedicated trivet or hot mat.

How do I clean the placemats? Shake or vacuum regularly to remove crumbs and debris. For spills, remove any solids and blot immediately rather than rubbing. Avoid saturating the jute with water and allow it to dry completely before storing.

Can I use the basket for anything else? Yes. The matching lidded basket can also be used independently for storing small items when the placemats are in use.

Will every placemat look exactly the same? No. As each placemat is handcrafted from natural jute, slight variations in colour, texture and construction are part of their character and make every set unique.

Can I order placemats without the basket? For larger or bulk orders of 30 or more placemats, we can arrange a custom order without the storage basket. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
