Malu Jute Table Runner - Bone

    2 Reviews

Ideal for everyday use, the Malu Table Runner will add a textural touch to your dining setting while serving to protect your tabletop from scratches and spills. This runner also works beautifully on a console or sideboard as a base piece for layering texture. Perfectly paired with linen, earthy tableware and decorative pieces and natural elements!

Both timeless and functional, this piece is handmade by fair trade artisans in a rural village community of Bangladesh. The women first plait long strands of natural jute, and then weave the plaits together with bone-coloured cotton thread on wooden looms row by row, before stitching the ends using a needle and thread.

A genuine Fair Trade partnership ensures the women who weave our Malu Table Runners are paid fairly, provided with consistent work and safe working conditions, among a host of other benefits that are in keeping with the Ten Principles of Fair Trade.

Complete the look with our Malu Jute Placemats in the same weave.

    • Each table runner is 170 x 35cm / 67" x 14inches
    • - Plaited natural jute fibres and bone-coloured cotton.
      - Each table runner is handwoven on wooden looms and the ends are hand stitched.
    • - Our table runners have been crafted to last however jute changes colour in the sun, so be sure to keep them clear of harsh rays.
      - To clean, we suggest you shake them outside to dislodge dirt or dust.
      - They are robust and will withstand condensation however for heavier water-based spills, blot with kitchen paper or an absorbent cloth as soon as possible and allow them to dry. Do not rub stains or spills from your placemat as this may spread the stain and loosen the jute fibres. For oil-based or coloured spills, please consult a specialist cleaning professional.
      - You may choose a protection treatment prior to using your table runner. We recommend MicroSeal who offer a DIY protection and cleaning kit suitable for jute fibres.
