• Each Aarna Wall Hanging is made through a Fair Trade organisation in Bangladesh, with different stages completed by farming and artisan communities.
• Hemp is grown by small-scale farmers without the use of pesticides, then harvested and dried naturally in the sun.
• The dried hemp is threshed and prepared by hand to separate and soften the fibres.
• Fair Trade artisans spin the prepared fibres into long, continuous lengths of twine using their fingers and an age-old system of posts and counterweights.
• The handspun hemp is passed to another group of women artisans, who crochet and knot the twine by hand to create the three individual panels.
• Each panel is made in a different size, combining open sections with close-weave crochet detailing.
• The three finished panels are designed to be layered and arranged together to create the Aarna’s distinctive draped form.
• Through our long-standing Fair Trade partnership, the artisans receive fair wages, safe working conditions and regular income.

• Your wall hanging will arrive with the panels rolled around the bamboo rod. The panels are flexible and designed to have a draped, organic appearance.
• If you prefer the panels to sit a little flatter, gently fold the corners back in the opposite direction a few times to help reshape them.
• Keep out of direct sunlight, as natural hemp may change colour or yellow with prolonged exposure.
• To remove dust, take the wall hanging outside on a dry day and gently shake each panel.

Does the Aarna Wall Hanging come with a hanging rod?  Yes. The Aarna is supplied with a 95cm / 37.4in natural bamboo hanging rod. 

How do I hang the Aarna Wall Hanging? You will need two hooks or screws to secure the rod to the wall, one at each end. The wall hanging weighs approximately 5kg / 6.6lb, so be sure to use wall plugs and hooks suitable for the weight and your wall type.

Can I use a different hanging rod? Yes. The included bamboo rod can be replaced with something that better suits your interior, such as a branch or piece of driftwood, a black metal, copper or brass rod, or even a length of rope.

Can I change the arrangement of the three panels? Yes. Each panel has hanging loops at the top that can be moved along the rod, allowing you to adjust how the panels overlap and drape. Experiment with their position until you find a composition that works for your space.
