A substantial rectangular basket with warm woven texture and a robust yet pliable feel. Hand braided and stitched from premium natural jute, this long-standing design is made for larger storage throughout the home, from blankets and pillows to toys, sports gear and firewood. The generous size works beautifully on its own or within cabinetry.
Are the handles flexible? Yes. The flexible handles fold down and the rectangular shape makes this basket particularly well suited to cabinetry, mudroom joinery, wardrobes, open shelving and under benches.
Does the basket hold its shape? The sturdy construction helps the basket hold its shape while maintaining a softer, more pliable feel than our more structured basket styles.
What can it be used for? This basket is ideal for storing pillows, blankets, toys, towels, firewood, sports gear and more in living rooms, bedrooms, playrooms, pool rooms, mudrooms, and entryways.
Will it be shipped upright or folded? This basket is folded for shipping and may need reshaping on arrival. Press out any creases, then fill with towels or blankets for a day or two to help restore shape.
Robust yet pliable construction gives the basket shape and strength without rigidity.
Hand braided from premium quality jute, creating warmth, texture and durability.
Flexible integrated handles make the basket easy to carry and fold down to fit neatly into cabinetry.
Generous in size for storing pillows, blankets, toys, firewood, exercise gear and more.
We partner with a Fair Trade organisation in Bangladesh that provides meaningful work for the women who make our Large Jute Baskets through both weaving and quality checking.
In a remote village community of Bangladesh, artisans create each basket using natural jute, often working from home while caring for their children or together in shared community weaving spaces. Long braids are first created, then coiled and hand stitched row by row using a needle and thick cotton thread, with artisans measuring as they go until the basket shape is formed.
The baskets are then transported to a quality checking workshop in Dhaka where women inspect every basket in detail, correcting missed stitches and trimming loose jute fibres. This process supports consistent work and fair wages across both village weaving and workshop-based artisan groups.
