• The integrated handles are also handcrafted from flat jute braids.

• Each Jute Laundry Basket is made in stages by women artisans through a Fair Trade organisation that we partner with.
• In a remote village community of Bangladesh, artisans first create long braids using natural jute.
• The braids are then coiled and hand stitched row by row using a needle and thick cotton thread, with artisans measuring as they go until the basket shape is formed.
• The baskets are then transported to a quality checking workshop in Dhaka where women inspect every basket in detail, correcting missed stitches and trimming loose jute fibres.
• This process supports consistent work and fair wages across both village weaving and workshop-based artisan groups.

• Use for dry laundry only. Prolonged exposure to moisture may lead to mould or discolouration. If using for plants, place a waterproof liner or tray inside to protect the basket.
• Keep out of direct sunlight, as jute will naturally change colour over time.
• Baskets are gently folded for shipping and may need reshaping on arrival. Press out any creases, then fill with towels or blankets to help restore shape.
• Vacuum regularly or take outside and shake to remove dust.
• Blot spills immediately with an absorbent cloth. Do not rub, as this may spread the stain or loosen fibres.
• For oil-based or coloured spills, consult a professional cleaner.
• You may choose to apply a protection treatment suitable for natural fibres before use.

Does the basket have a lining? No, this style doesn’t have a lining but many of our other laundry baskets do.

Are the handles flexible? Yes. The integrated braided jute handles are flexible and fold down, making the basket easy to fit into cabinetry or shelving when needed.

Does the basket hold its shape? The sturdy construction helps the basket hold its shape while maintaining a softer, more pliable feel than our more structured basket styles.

What can it be used for? In addition to laundry, it can be used for storing toys, exercise or yoga gear and other everyday items. Some customers choose to place a potted plant inside.

Will it be shipped upright or folded? This basket is folded for shipping and may need reshaping on arrival. Press out any creases, then fill with towels or blankets for a day or two to help restore shape.

Can it be used for wet laundry? We recommend using the basket for dry laundry only. Prolonged exposure to moisture may lead to mould or discolouration, so wet items should be dried before placing inside.

Can it be used to hold plants? Yes, but we recommend placing a deep plastic tray or waterproof liner inside to protect the basket from moisture and potential mould.
