• Locally harvested kaisa grass forms the strong internal core of each placemat.

• Handcrafted by Fair Trade artisans in village communities in Bangladesh.
• Bundles of locally harvested kaisa grass are coiled to create the internal core.
• Strips of natural date palm fibre are wrapped around the core and woven through the coils using a strong needle.
• The matching lidded basket is handcrafted using the same coiling and weaving technique.

• Designed for everyday plates, bowls and serving dishes. For very hot cookware or oven dishes placed directly from the oven, use a dedicated trivet or hot mat.
• Natural palm fibre may lighten or change colour slightly over time.
• For everyday cleaning, wipe with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry naturally.
• Shake or vacuum regularly to remove dust and debris.
• Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not rub, as this may spread the stain.
• Oil-based or brightly coloured spills may not be fully removable. If needed, use a gentle cleaner suitable for natural fibres.

How many placemats are included in the set? Each set includes eight round palm fibre placemats stored inside a matching handwoven basket with lid.

Can I place hot dishes directly onto the placemats? These placemats are suitable for everyday plates, bowls and serving dishes. For very hot cookware or oven dishes directly from the oven, we recommend using a dedicated trivet or hot mat.

Will every placemat look exactly the same? No. As each placemat is handcrafted from natural fibres, slight variations in colour and weave are part of their character and make every set unique.
